MONTRÉAL, QC – The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) announced today that Renaud Brossard will be leading its Quebec activities. Brossard has a long history with the CTF, having started out as a volunteer with Generation Screwed, the CTF’s youth initiative, and then climbing up the ranks to become the movement’s Executive Director and the CTF’s Director of Special Projects.
“Quebecers pay some of the highest taxes in the country and I’m determined to stand up for them to hold government accountable,” said Brossard. “My predecessor, Carl Vallee, started an important conversation about relieving the heavy burden on Quebec taxpayers and I’m honoured to build on that momentum.”
Quebec is the most heavily taxed jurisdiction in North America. It is also the second most indebted, right behind Newfoundland and Labrador.
“For the last 40 years, our governments have tried taxing and regulating Quebec’s way to prosperity,” added Mr. Brossard. “We have to recognize that, not only has this been ineffective, it has come at great cost to Quebecers. Now, more than ever, it is time to demand a renewed respect for Quebec’s taxpayers.”
